// Overview
I owned and led the design strategy for WorldFirst's Payment & Collection, driving a unified global payment experience across the WorldFirst Business portal and mobile app, ensuring consistency, scalability, and usability across platforms.
My work spans end-to-end payment infrastructure (incl. funds in & out), recipient management, FX, statements, design systems, emerging AI-payment experiences, etc.
// Recognition
During this period, the product was recognized with the iF Design Award↵ and Red Dot Design Award↵ in 2026, which I was proud to contribute towards as part of the core design team.

// Area of Ownership
1/ Global Payment Experience
I owned and led the design strategy for WorldFirst's Payment & Collection, driving a unified global payment experience across the WorldFirst Business portal and mobile app, ensuring consistency, scalability, and usability across platforms.
My work spans end-to-end payment infrastructure (incl. funds in & out), recipient management, FX, statements, design systems, emerging AI-payment experiences, etc.
Main Deliverables
Transfer & withdrawal (local, cross-border, and multi-currency)
Scheduled payment (with pre-set FX rates)
Batch payment (payroll, supplier bills)
Top-up (via bank, card, and e-wallet)
Vendor and supplier payment (incl. 1688.com, Amazon)
Value-added tax (VAT) payment
Virtual account (VA) management
Recipient management
Transaction history & statements
Other supporting payment workflows

Imagine user is making standard cross-border transfer to their supplier, sending 1,000 GBP with 4.90 GBP service fee.

Imagine user is scheduling withdrawal to their own bank account with a desired exchange rate. Once the market reaches that rate, the withdrawal will automatically executed.

Imagine user is purchasing flight ticket and selecting “WorldFirst Balance” as the payment method on the merchant’s checkout page. Once confirmed, they’re redirected to their WorldFirst account to complete the payment.

Imagine new user is accessing a payment feature in the WorldFirst app for the first time. A welcome screen is shown to highlight its key value proposition and guide users through how it works.

Imagine user is making payroll payments to 100 employees who can only receive in CNY. Batch payments make it faster and more convenient to process them all at once.

Imagine user is paying their supplier who can only receive in CNY. A dedicated page allows them to manage their suppliers’ status and CNY quota limits.
2/ AI in Payments (Exploration)
As part of WorldFirst’s AI initiatives, I explored how AI could transform traditional payment experiences by recommending the most suitable options and helping users make more informed decisions throughout their payment journey.
Scenario
A user wants to send 1,000 CNY to Terry Kok using their available currency balances. Choosing different CNY settlement channels or currency balances can significantly impact the FX rate, service fees, and delivery time, making it difficult to determine the most cost-effective or fastest option.
By leveraging AI, the experience evaluates these factors and recommends the option that best fits the user’s needs. Users can prioritise lowest FX rate or fastest delivery, while also exploring the reasoning and factors behind each recommendation through AI-generated insights.
Additionally, I deep-dived into the AI analysis and recommendation content, with the goal of translating complex payment factors into clear, actionable insights. Each recommendation was designed with transparent reasoning, carefully filtered and structured for easy understanding, helping users build confidence in AI-assisted payment decisions.
3/ App Design System

With the launch of the WorldFirst App, establishing a scalable design system became essential to ensure consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across design and development.
I co-created and co-managed the system by defining reusable components, colour tokens, accessibility standards, and design guidelines.
As agentic AI became part of our product development workflow, we evolved our current design system into an agentic or AI-ready design system. Tools such as Claude Code and Cursor can better interpret our design intent, accelerating design-to-code implementation and improving collaboration between design and engineering.
// Product Highlight
1/ Implementation of new Transfer Method
Context
To better support diverse payment needs, we introduced Transfer Method, giving users the flexibility to choose how quickly funds are delivered to the recipient’s account.
There are 2 transfer options were introduced:
Fast Transfer
Regular Transfer
Each option offers different service fees, settlement times, and supported payment channels based on their needs.
Problem
The existing cashier page exposed all payment services at once, requiring users to understand the differences between basic and additional service options.
As more services were introduced, the experience became increasingly cluttered, making it difficult for users to compare their options and complete payments efficiently.
Challenge
As users could select different combinations based on their needs, this resulted in complex fee structures and varying benefits across payment channels. (eg. Service A+B+C, B+C, or A only)
The design needed to clearly communicate these fee combinations while ensuring users understood exactly what they had selected.
Solution
I restructured the experience by consolidating all payment services, including both new and existing options, into a single category called “Transfer Method”.
This approach simplified decision-making by allowing users to compare transfer speed, fees, and benefits in one place while reducing cognitive load.
Impact
The redesigned Transfer Method experience simplified payment service selection, improved fee transparency while establishing a scalable foundation for future payment expansion. Following launch, it maintained 80% payment conversion rate across the WorldFirst portal.
2/ Redesign of Payment screen
Context
As WorldFirst expanded its mobile payment capabilities, users needed a dedicated page to easily discover, access and manage all payment-related features in one place.
Problem
In the existing payment flow, users could only initiate payments either through a “Transfer” shortcut on the homepage or from the recipient list.
As more payment capabilities were introduced, continuously adding feature entrances to Home would reduce discoverability and create long-term scalability challenges.
Challenge
The redesigned Payment page required new interaction patterns, including advanced search and scrolling behaviours that were not supported by the existing technical implementation.
Beyond the technical constraints, our team needed to ensure users could quickly understand the new page structure and transition seamlessly from the existing payment flow after launch.
Solution
I restructured the original Recipient screen into a dedicated Payment screen, organised around 3 key sections:
Quick payment actions
Ongoing payment activities
Recipient management
